Learning how to light

So when I looked back at my lighting from last year in pics and the video, I wasnt to pleased.  I see other haunts that look amazing.  Check out this pics from Skull and Bones

This looks amazing.  See previous posts for what mine looked last years.  I read the Skull and Bone lighting tutorial,  http://www.skullandbone.com/tutorial_01.htm

So here is my first attempt, I think I need to use the other camera to get better shots

HAHA, I got a long way to GO!!

Foam skull and a big mess

After reading alot on the subject, I got a mold, thanks born2haunt, and some latex and release agent.  Here is my first attempt, kinda hard to type as my fingers are sticking to the keys (hard to get this GreatStuff foam off my hands)

Buy vs Build

The age old question, time vs money, money vs time.  I am a huge fan of all the guys who have built their Witch w/ cauldron, but I have wimped out and now purchased a gemmy product to have a head start on mine.  I will make some mods to her, bigger cauldron, more fog, better voice track, better speakers.

Testing of the pneumatic props

Thanks to Brent and DCprops for my 2 new popups for this year.  Picked them up this week but only had today to test.  Went over to Harbour Freight to get the quick releases and manifold...post pics later!

Nor-Cal Haunters mtg

Visited a Nor-Cal Haunter mtg hosted by Karl Fields of the famed Pirates of Emerson haunt in Fremont.  check it out here

http://www.piratesofemerson.com

Found some cool items there, especially the Talking Skull from Skulltronix, www.skulltronix.com

I also picked up some pneumatic props from Brent over at DCprops located in Mtn View, CA, www.dcprops.com

I will post more when I pick them up and test them out.

Can't believe its less than 90 days till Halloween

So I havent posted in ages, but having a baby will sure take away from your prop building time!  Since I last posted, I have done alot of revisions on the cemetery layout as well as started a few projects.

Here is the Cemetery walk-thru:

Gargoyles have arrived!

Man are these things slick!  Wings come off with a bolt and look amazing.  The back is open so adding Fog and LED eyes will be trivial.  I will have to mock up the columns so they have backs and cover up the exposed section.  Still looking for the fitco timer so I can time both gargoyles seperately.  ....

4:37 PM - 1/26/2006

More fun bargain shopping...

Picked up a few wig heads for a dollar each.  Also found ceiling mount spinning motors for 2/per and 2 more 400w foggers that will go into the columns that the gargoyles will be mounted on!!  For the foggers, I need a few more Timers...like these Fitco ones.

I am looking to create a few things this summer.  One is the Witch stirring in the cauldron. I will prolly start with ScareFXs plan an mold my own fake.  Model magic to the rescue!

more to come.....

10:48 PM - 1/19/2006

Gargoyles are coming to town!

Just picked up a pair of the following from ebay.  The possibilities are endless
