Appearances can be misleading. Dark circles under the eyes can make us look like we lack energy and enthusiasm for living. In our age-conscious, youth-oriented culture, dark circles can make us at look older and that can really hold you back.
Do you have dark circles? The best way to determine how you truly look to others is to go to a department store make-up counter. The glaringly bright light that is often at makeup-up counters is starkly different from the muted, face-friendly mirror in most of our home bathrooms. You can really see the dark circles under your eyes in the department store light.
If you find that indeed you do have dark shading under your eyse it is most likely from one of the following: heredity, age, lack of rest, or allergies.
If your dark circles are caused by lack of rest or allergies they may respond well to some very simple treatments that can be done at home. For lack of rest, of course the most immediate course of action is to up the number of hours rest you get at night. A little extra sleep can have a profound effect on how we look.
For allergies you might try some over the counter remedies which will shrink your nasal passages and accompanying mucus membranes, thereby reducing the puffy distended look around the eye area.
Water has been proven to help dark circles and under-eye puffiness in many sufferers. Increasing your intake of water to 8 or more glasses a day will probably help the appearance of your dark circles and puffiness.
Dark circles caused by heredity and age are both the result of thinning skin around the eye area. The blood vessels lay just beneath the surface of the skin so if the skin in the eye area is translucent or thin the blood shows through the skin as a bluish hue.
But there is hope. Science has proven that there are treatments that are successful in providing relief from dark circles under the eyes. There are substances called peptides which are great at rejuvenating the skin around the eye area.
In addition to peptides Vitamin K has been proven especially helpful for all skin conditions. In addition to helping scars and imperfections of the skin, it also tends to thicken the skin and plump it up. This puts additional padding between the delicate skin of the eye area and the blood vessels beneath the skin.
A topical treatment which combines the wonderful restorative qualities of the peptides with the skin renewing properties of Vitamin K would be very helpful in the treatment of dark circles.
One such product that has come to our attention is Eyederma(tm). This product, which is available from the Bodestore, combines a peptide complex called Ocupeptide-3 with Vitamin K. It's makers say that it will reduce dark circles while also decreasing puffiness, strengthening the small blood vessels around the eye, reviving tired and fatigued eyelids giving you a more vibrant look.
Dark circles and under-eye puffiness can be treated successfully. Educate yourself on the possible causes and undertake these simple treatments to help correct it.
